If you are having anxiety or fear coming up in your thoughts, from COVID-19 or any other reason, here is a short exercise you can do.
It’s about being mindful, being in the moment and knowing as long as your breathing you are OK!
Take a long deep breath then give yourself a gentle hug, then gently rub your hands up and down your arms a couple of times. Then bring your thoughts back to your breathing for one full minute.
Do this 3 times in a row.
What is happening is that you are being mindful and in the moment.
When you do the hug and gently rub your arms between the breaths it is called Bilateral stimulation. It actually changes your thoughts and allows your mind to release pleasure hormones and at the same time defragments your brain.
This is a quick easy way to bring your mind back into the moment and let go of the negative thoughts that were causing your anxiety or fear.
